On Friday, December 7th, 2018, the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Building Awards Committee honored di Domenico + Partners and the New York City School Construction Authority for Excellence in Design & Construction in the Exterior, Interior, and Green Building categories. Awards were presented at a luncheon at the Richmond County Country Club in Staten Island. The project cited, an addition to Susan E. Wagner High School, which serves over 3,000 students, was commissioned by the NYC School Construction Authority in 2013 to alleviate overcrowding at the existing school by providing six additional classrooms and specialized academic spaces, including a new performing arts center, for the school’s prestigious theater and arts program. The Performing Arts Center is an exemplary NYC green school building that exceeds compliance with the New York City Green School rating’s requirements and features green initiatives such as xeriscaping and daylighting.
